The Art of Leadership: It is an Art and Your Team is Your Canvas
Everyone has an artist inside looking to give the world their creativity. As I near the end of my 22-year military leadership journey, I've come to appreciate the need for great leaders. The cohesive units I’ve had the privilege to lead, both in the skies as a combat pilot and in various global assignments, provided me with the opportunities and challenges to perfect my craft at leadership. It is with utmost humility that I share the insights I’ve garnered, not from the rank of Colonel that I've worn, but from the collective triumphs and trials that forged the resilient teams under my command. It is through my scars and successes that I hope to use this blog to share what I have learned to help speed up others leadership journey so we can serve our organizations and those in our charge better.
Through open communication, empowerment, and leading by example, my teams were able to transcend the many challenges before us. As you read this blog, it is my desire that it serve as guiding lights to your leadership journey, remember that it's the subtleties of these engagements—the listening ear, the shared burdens, the quietly acknowledged expectations—that can shape a mere group of individuals into a formidable, united force, ready to achieve shared greatness.
